WE CAN HELP YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN!
The Blackhawk Women’s Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2001 to increase educational opportunities for college-bound women in financial need in Contra Costa County.
It offers scholarships to graduating High School seniors, or Junior College students ready to transfer, who will be attending a 4 year college/university in the fall. Scholarships are primarily awarded based on financial need, academic achievement of 3.5 GPA or higher, good citizenship and strong character. They are designed to be a last resort for women who have exhausted other sources of college aid.
In 2013, we gave out scholarships to 4 very deserving young ladies who were in need of financial assistance! Monies for the Fund are accrued through solicited donations, both personal and corporate, large and small fund-raising events and several influential civic associations. “And we will continue to tap into other resources to increase the number of students who can receive our aid,” said Carol Lee Bishop, the Fund’s founder. “The sky’s the limit.” The Fund also accepts “in-kind” donations such as legal services, accounting services, printing and other professional services, keeping our operating costs low and our scholarships high.
