Sia'h Fanta Jissima
My name is Sia’h Fanta Jimissa and I attended Freedom High School in Oakley. During my time at Freedom, I participated in varsity basketball, volleyball, and served as the president of my school’s Professional Human Development Academy which is a public health club. Outside of school, I’ve volunteered with the Special Olympics and my local library. I will be attending UC Berkeley in the fall, and plan to major in either integrative biology or public health on a pre-med track.

I am so thankful for receiving this scholarship and looking forward to showing all of you what a woman like me can do in the medical field
going forward. Thank you for believing in me enough to choose me as a recipient of this esteemed scholarship foundation. I have always been one to persevere and follow through any task I set my mind to. Now, as a graduate of DVC, leaving with an associate degree in
science, I will be taking the next step of my life onto the CSU Northridge campus to pursue a bachelor degree in Radiology and become a pre-med student.
Christine Mazzi
I am Christine Mazzi, a 17 year old graduating Senior at Concord High School. I will be a Public Health major on the premed track at
UC Berkeley in the fall. I first learned that I was passionate about public/global health and community outreach when I spent a month of my summer in 2019 interning at local clinics in rural areas of Cusco, Peru. My career goal is to work towards combating the global health crises faced both in the United States and developing countries.
